The staff was sent home at noon, so my friend Brian and I decided to have a coffee at the local coffee shop where we can have a place to sit, and talk about the office politics at work.
At the coffee shop, we found a table for two in a quite area, and ordered our drinks. We started to chat like old friends do when I straight out asked him what happened to the boss?
I found out that our boss for the past three years got fired for sleeping with another employee who works at a different department. He was able to keep this from his superiors, but his girlfriend found out that he was also having an affair with the secretary, and decided to have her revenge. She told everyone about it via emails.
For this reason the secretary quit her job, the boss got fired, and the employee from a different department is now on maternity leave. Despite the drama, and all that has happened within the company, upper management still continues to operate a successful business. Luckily there are temporary agencies.
Two hours into our conversation, my friend Brian and I came to one valid conclusion. As difficult as it is to be in top-level management, neither one of us wants to walk in the shoes of the General Manager.
