Thanksgiving is all about being thankful for life and all that it has to offer. It can be celebrated as a public holiday, or in private when we allow ourselves to reflect on how meaningful life really is. Life is meant for the living and we should all be gratefully giving thanks for life.

What a day
I awoke to the barking of the neighbourhood dogs barking outside my second floor window. Still half asleep, I glanced at the alarm clock on the night stand and it said 2:35am. I felt deeply annoyed because it was too early for me to start getting ready for work. The alarm clock usually goes off at 5:00am, and my shift as a manager begins at 7:00am, so I might as well try to get some sleep. As I was about to settle down again for a quick nap I heard a knock on my front door. Asking myself who could it be I grabbed my housecoat and headed downstairs to find out. I looked throught the peephole and saw that someone was hurt and needed help. I called 911 and told them to send an ambulance as soon as possible to my address. Within five minutes the paramedics came and took charge of the situation. They told me that the police was on their way to ask me some questions since I was the one who had called for help. Fully awake at this time, I decided to make some coffee and wait for the police to arrive. What a way to begin my day.
